Being an actor is an amazing job. It is a tough job but also extremely rewarding. Get a lot of money, being known by everyone and meeting famous people every day are a few of the advantages of having this job. The glamour that we see on the red carpet happened through blood, sweat, and tears that the actor has sacrificed. In order to be a good successful actor, these are steps that will guide you to be one of them.

First, get educated. The beginning of a good career in acting starts from school. Drama class introduces students to many subjects that can help them improve their acting skills. They learn about performing, character development, methods in acting, writing play materials, costume design for stage, etc. It is very important for students to learn the basic subject of drama because in the future they will need good skills to survive working in the tough acting industry. In drama school, they will also know fellow actors that will help them in the future by adding new relations. It is also important to go to drama school because we have to adapt to the real actor’s job in the future. Let’s imagine that drama school as a simulation before we join the actual work environment. Prepare to practice a lot when you are in this stage of your career because practice makes perfect. Also, you can ask your friends to practice with you about knowing your character in the play to make practicing become more fun. Intense interaction between actors and actresses will add more chemistry which will make the performance even better on the stage.

Second, building up an acting resume is very important. When we register for an audition, the casting director will ask if we have acting experiences to prove that we are capable of it. After that, if our resume is suitable for the role that they search then they will ask us to sign a contract. It means that they want us to be in their movie. Most people are confused about where to start building an acting resume because they are not familiar with it. If you have someone that works for a big-budget movie with a great reputation cast, you may join it. That is a very good opportunity and will make you become a famous actor easily. But not everyone has that opportunity, so the easiest way to start is by finding more experience outside school such as joining local theater in your circumstances. If you are still at the start of your career, you can start from the easiest role but do not forget to improve your skill and aim for a bigger role for the next play.

Third, hire an agent to get more relations. Having an agent may not be mandatory but if you want to work for a big movie or theater project then you will need one. A good agent can give an actor huge networking access. They have access that you would not get on your own. Acting agents submit their clients for auditions because most of their clients are busy. Then, they follow up on submissions and auditions. Also, they help their clients to negotiate better pay and contracts. That is why huge actors and actresses have an agent. But, it is fine if you, a newcomer in the acting industry, do not have them now. Hiring an agent or joining an acting agency is quite expensive for a newcomer. They take approximately 10% to 20% of a client’s gross earnings for every job they book from an audition they sent you on. For a newcomer, that amount of money can be used for surviving life. Right now, you can start only with yourself also do not forget to work hard, and maybe in the future, you can start hiring them.

In conclusion, the steps to be an actor are get educated, building up an acting resume, and hire an agent. I suggest you do your best to get this job because you will find a lot of competitor actors. Being an actor costs your blood, sweat, and tears but the result is very worth it. Do not forget to be your best self and never give up.
